New Weezer!! Hurley, and get it!!

Sorry about that awful pun. (If You didn't already know, or put it together, It is named after Jorge Garcia or Hugo "Hurley" Rayes from "Lost") They met each other back stage before a late night tv show, and Rivers asked Garcia to get a picture with him. they took this picture which Weezer later cropped everything but his face and made their album cover.

New Weezer... Now before I start going on and on about my opinion of this new album and Weezer in general, I should admit I have quite the bias for Weezer. They were one of the first bands I listened to ever. Blink-182, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Weezer, they were my first bands. The genius that was "The Blue Album" (their debut album) is still one of my favorite albums of all time, songs like "Undone" "My Name is Jonas" "Buddy Holly" "Only In Dreams", and the AMAZING "Say it aint so" (I basically loved every song off the album I think there may have been 1 song I might not have been crazy about). They followed up with "Pinkerton" which I honestly never owned the entire thing, but it had my favorite song of ALL time. "El Scorcho" which I'll explain why "El Scorcho" is one of the greatest songs of all time, another time. After a few years Weezer was back with "The Green Album" which only increased their fan base, "Island In the Sun" is a must in any Itunes library, no matter what your music taste consists of.

I'll Jump forward to "The Red Album" (Maladroit, and Make Believe were decent, I don't really have an opinion. Make Believe was probably my least listened of all of their albums, I was a sucker for Beverly Hills, and Perfect Situation, but they both got old fast). I Remember not completely liking "The Red Album" at first, except for "Troublemaker". I was stuck on a road trip with my family and my Ipod, and I listened to more and more of "The Red Album" and it grew on me, pretty fast. Before I knew it "The Red Album" became almost a drug fix for me, I would start to get anxious if I hadn't listened to "The Greatest Man That ever Lived" for a few hours. My love for "The Red album" has gone down but I still respect it, and enjoy it more then most people.

"Raditude"... I was amazed at how fast it had come out after "The Red album" but I wasn't about to complain. Rainn Wilson (also known as Dwight Schrute from the office) named this album. Their single "Can't Stop Partying" was not my favorite Weezer song, but when the actual album came out I was surprised at how much I liked it "Love is the Answer" and "The Girl Got Hot' were my jams! In all I wasn't amazed but I had given up on waiting for another Green or Blue album. The reactions I observed were mostly "Weezer came out with a new album? meh." or "Sucks", this was harder for me to hear considering I've clung to Weezer like a religion. When I look back on it, it deserved more coverage, or more positive coverage.

Now Weezer's new album... I was skeptical at first, expecting another album that only myself and my friend John would listen to and actually enjoy. "Memories" was their single which I wasn't too fond of at first but later grew to enjoy. The night before it came out I began to research and reviews were loving it or atleast loving it more then their last albums. I was getting incredibly excited if Weezer made a come back I would be able to shove an amazing "I told you so!" to all the people who lost hope in my favorite band. The actual album is much full of pep, energy, and honestly did give me a haunting chill of Blue and Green album, not directly, but they were so much closer than Red or Rad. I can feel how much heart they put into this album. Ofcourse I had my few songs I wasn't crazy about but I don;t think I will be able to express how relaxing it feels to listen to "Trainwrecks" or jam out to "Ruling Me". the relaxing chill ambiance that "Unspoken", "Trainwreck" and "Time Flies" is great. But I think what most people will catch will be the upbeat tempo of "Where's My Sex", "Ruling Me", "All my Friends are insects (if you got the Deluxe edition with the bonus tracks), and then my personal favorite song from the album "Smart Girls", I can't keep still while listening to this track! Now this could just be me but hot damn, this track is going on my top 10 Weezer songs list easily, (this is a competitive list). I hope you can enjoy Weezer's new Album Hurley as much as me!

Apparently on November 2nd, 2010 they are releasing Pinkerton Deluxe edition! and some other never-released Weezer songs later, along with River Cuomos solo work. So we will be getting more Weezer for us to obsess over.
